Visual work in progress for the Striding Lion album and InterArts Festival

The following are some initial templates I've been playing with for the Striding Lion Interarts Festival, beginning...tomorrow.

Backstory: Striding Lion(www.stridinglion.org) is the interdisciplinary company with whom I've been creating since I moved to Chicago in 2001. We are a group of interdisciplinary artists(primarily dancers, actors, musicians, educators who are all either creative, OCD, or intrigued by all disciplines and insist upon using them). Each season begins with a theme of a workshop process in our created methodology, culminating in a production of some fantastic sort. We all probably know each other a little too well.

Music, especially jazz and rock influenced, has always been a mainstay in every production we've built. This year, We've written, recorded, and are now performing an album. It is still in it's initial stages, and we're are playing five shows here in Chicago to get it on it's feet. Hey-here's a spot for shameless self promotion!!!

Okay. Now, that is done. Please come. Give us input. Give me input. Support the arts.

Last night, in rehearsal, I had a quick conversation with Amanda(our artistic director and good friend from years and years ago, back in the Memphis days)It went like this:

Amanda:So, Karen, tell me what you think about this.
Me:okay.
A: You can't really discern th lyrics, which is part of this, but they are a core part of this process. Should I put them in the program?
Me: No. We can include them in the liner notes of the CD, but not the program. It's a show. We're in a bar. Who wants to read?
A: Yeah, but the lyrics are really important, you know?
Me: What about having them posted visually? i like text on walls. It's an art festival. why not?
A:Great idea!
Me:Want me to do it?
A:Yes.

These are some initial prototypes(that's redundant). They look better in person. Come out and join in the fun. i was up until 5am this morning, and expect the same tonight. This is a fun project. and will look better as liner notes.
